The helpline rang as Sorcha entered the support-room. “Aoibhneas Women & Children’s Refuge, can I help you?” she answered. No reply came but Sorcha was aware that someone was breathing at the other end of the line. “My name is Sorcha” she repeated gently “Can I help you in any way?” Silence ensued for a couple of minutes followed by muffled sobs. “There is no rush... I am waiting here with you... Are you safe at this very minute?” The sobs continued. “Do you want to tell me why you are so upset?” A voice finally answered “Sometimes, I just don’t want to go home!”
