Aoibhneas, Dublin - A refuge from domestic violence for women and children
Day 10 - Yummy Mummy

16 Days Against Violence

Sarah lived with her husband Mike and their two children in Dalkey. To onlookers Sarah was living the perfect life. She drove a Kia Sportage, had a credit card, expensive clothes, and an adoring husband.
What people did not see was –

Mike writing down the mileage she used in the Sportage,
Scrutinising her itemised Visa bill

Continuously telling her she would never be able to afford their €3000 per month mortgage or the crѐche fees or private schooling for their children when they were older.

Mike scoffed at Sarah’s opinions, ridiculed her taste and constantly made disparaging remarks about her ability to handle money or parent their children.

Mike was loved and respected by colleagues and family alike and never found fault with anybody else.

Sarah slowly began to doubt herself and became more and more anxious and depressed.

This is a more subtle type of bullying but just as cruel and damaging to the victim

.....This is emotional abuse!
