Aoife met Tom, the love of her life one August Bank Holiday in Westport. Exactly twelve months later Aoife and Tom were married. It was a fairytale wedding and, as one would expect, they lived happily ever after... that is until Aoife became pregnant on their first child.

A study by doctors at Dublin Rotunda Hospital revealed that one in eight Irish women have experienced abuse during pregnancy. 69% of the identified victims alleged physical abuse while a staggering 74% of victims alleged emotional abuse. (irishhealth.com)

For many years now Women’s Aid have highlighted the high percentage of their callers who are being abused during pregnancy. According to Women’s Aid it is one the most dangerous times for their clients and their unborn children.
