In 2007 we, at Aoibhneas Women & Children’s Refuge, initiated an emailing campaign emphasising the effects of Domestic Violence on children as part of a Global 16 Days against Violence Campaign.
For 2008 we will be undertaking another emailing campaign, however this year we are adopting a more inclusive, diverse approach. One that reflects some of the current issues in our ever evolving society!
Our contribution is entitled: ‘16 Days / 16 Scenarios : These are People....Not Just Statistics!’ Most of us know someone who is being abused we are just, quite possibly, not aware of it. Domestic Violence is like a sickness in our society! It can affect any woman regardless of her age, marital status, social-economic status or cultural background.
We would like our readers to consider the fact that the people in the scenarios could very well be their mothers, their sisters, their neighbours or their friends.
All photographs used in our campaigns are of models. They are not currently nor ever were clients of Aoibhneas Women & Children’s Refuge.
