You fear your neighbour is being beaten or abused. What can you do?
Befriend her. Support her. Do not confront her on the violence......
she will confide IF and WHEN she is ready.

Only she knows her perpetrator.
Only she knows the extent of the danger involved.

It is a well known fact that ‘leaving’ is one of the most dangerous times for a victim of Domestic Violence because if a perpetrator has that much control over his partner, he will not relinquish it easily.
Never underestimate the extent of the danger.

If however you hear a fracas from the house, you can ring 999 or 112 and report a ‘disturbance’. This is not involving the victim but simply stating that you are not willing to accept such behaviour. Always take a record of the name of the garda you are speaking to, the time and the date (this could be invaluable information for your neighbour at a future date).
